The Minister of Energy, Hon. January Makamba met and held talks with the Minister of Energy of Saudi Arabia, Hon. Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud on the second day of a working visit to the country. During the meeting, Minister Makamba discussed various issues related to energy with his fellow Minister and also presented a special message from the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Samia Suluhu Hassan to the Government of Saudi Arabia.

Speaking after the session, Minister Makamba said “we have come to Saudi Arabia with a special message from the President of the United Republic of Tanzania and I am happy to say that the message has arrived as intended”. In addition, Minister Makamba added that Tanzania and Saudi Arabia have good long-term relations and now the two countries intend to develop relations by increasing cooperation in the energy sector.

“In confirmation of this recently the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia visited Tanzania and also the King of Saudi Arabia, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has invited our President, Hon. Samia Suluhu Hassan to visit Saudi Arabia ”explained Minister Makamba.

Minister Makamba, accompanied by the Commissioner for Petroleum and Gas, Ndg. Michael Mjinja and TPDC CEO, Dr. James Mataragio. The visit also aims to establish trade relations, exchange of knowledge and technology in the oil and gas industry. It should be noted that Saudi Arabia is the largest oil producer in the world and therefore relations with Tanzania could open up various opportunities in the region.
